Asian pears are the size of an apple and almost perfectly round, and the skin color ranges from yellow-green to brown. Asian pears are juicier and crisper than their relative in the pear family.

Use: Organic Asian pears are delicious both raw and cooked and may be substituted for common pears in any recipe or dish. Cooking intensifies their flavor but doesn't compromise their shape and texture. If unbruised, they can be stored in the refrigerator for a month.

Most of our organic Bartletts come from Denevan Orchards in Santa Cruz and Watsonville, California. Bill Denevan has been an organic farmer since 1975. A unique aspect of Bill's pears is that they are 'dry-farmed' they're non-irrigated, which increases flavor and sugar content. Bartletts are medium sized with smooth yellow/green skin and distinctive, smooth, juicy flesh. Excellent for canning and fresh use, ripe in late August.
