Organic Amazake
Our Amazake is a delicious dairy-free shake made from 100% organic whole grain brown rice, not milled rice. Amazake is in the family of traditional Japanese foods made from Koji that includes miso, soy sauce, tamari, and sake. Koji (cultured rice) is added to the cooled whole grain rice causing enzymes to break down the carbohydrates into simpler sugars (not refined). As the mixture incubates, the natural sweetness develops, creating a nectar-like beverage. Amazake contains no alcohol, no added salt or oil, and no added sweeteners. Amazake is quick and easy for a dessert, snack or meal on the run. It can also be blended with fruit such as strawberries or bananas for a thick and creamy non-dairy smoothie.
